The Mountain Emergency Response Corps (MERC), the local unit of the Red Cross, will offer a presentation on how to prepare for and respond to disasters, whether at home or out in the community. Luke Rizzuto shares his adventures of re-creating the Great Race of 1908 on Wednesday, March 22, at 7 p.m., in the Loma Prieta Elementary School forum. Admission is $10, with all proceeds going to LPEF. Children under age 16 are free.

Thursday, March 23

Saturday, March 25
Family Science Day will be from 2 to 5 p.m. at Loma Prieta Elementary School. This free event features creepy crawlies, rockets, and mysteries unlocked. Family Science Day attracts about 500 people, including students, parents, and community members. On display will be science-fair projects, interactive exhibits on marine biology, zoology, genetics, acoustics, natural-resource conservation, geology, and other applications of science.

Acoustic Eidolon performs at the Los Gatos High School Theatre at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 at the door, $20 for seniors, and $5 for students. More information at www.lgcca.org.
