Mountain Resident Sticker Program
Terry Clark

Anyone needing a sticker should call Assemblymember Ira Ruskin's office, 650-691.2121. Proof of registration with a 95033 address is required to obtain a sticker.

Closures on Highway 17 due to weather, earthquakes, accidents and crime scene investigations have prevented hundreds of mountain residents from accessing their homes and schools due to CHP barricades.

A few years ago concerned local residents met with the previous District 24 Assemblyman Jim Cunneen, Caltrans and CHP representatives to create what is today the mountain resident ID sticker program. The identifying green and white soft plastic stickers, placed in the lower left windshield of vehicles, may allow resident traffic to be waved through a Highway 17 roadblock.

The first wave of stickers were mailed in 1999 by Cunneen’s office to Santa Clara County residents residing in the 95033 zip code.
